My Red Wine Taste Awful

When I first started buying a bottle or two of red wine after each overseas trip back from the airport, I just shut them in my kitchen cabinet. Every seasonal festive time, I will then take and place them in the refrigerator before serving them to my guests.

I opened the bottles and served the wines to all guests immediately. To my shock, all of them found the wines tasted awful. The bitter tannic tasted like overnight tea and it was really undrinkable!

Buying good wine is one thing to consider, but not storing them correctly can be disastrous. Opening the bottle and serve immediately without allowing the wine to breathe and open is also a not well known mistake. You need to have knowledge about wine to appreciate wine.

I will share my knowledge over time in this blog. As of now, I come across this article on "Wine Need To Breathe". Wine is like a living thing, you need to allow it to breathe to improve its taste. You will enjoy your next bottle of wine better.

Have A Glass Of Ice Wine

Have you try tasting an Ice Wine or have you heard of it? How ice wine comes about? How different is the ice wine as compared to other dessert wines?

The key difference between ice wine and other dessert wines is that ice wines show a much clearer fruit and varietal character. This is because other sweet wines are made from botrytis (“noble rot”) affected grapes or with grapes that have been laid out and dried. As for ice wine, the grapes used are healthy at harvest, hence, a good amount of acidity remains and this gives the wine a raciness that other dessert wines generally have to a far lesser degree.

Another Wine Lover

Hi,

This is my first post to this new blog. I started getting a taste of wine when I was 7 years old. Ha! Ha! guess what, as a kid I was always curious what the adults were drinking during festive dinner, so when they had wine, I always ask for a sip.

I have never been a serious wine drinker although I was introduced to it at that early age. Wah, what a waste, I may be a great wine taster if I have learnt the skill since then.

However, it is never too late. As wine has been getting more popular, I became excited about this beverage and started reading all about wine. Thus, it also give me this idea of starting this blog with all of you. Feel free to ask a question or comment and be part of the wine lover group.
